STEAM DEPARTMENT

Welcome to GAMS STEAM Department
(STEM + ART = STEAM)

Technology Education (6-8)

Technology Education is a class offered to middle school students at GAMS. In this class we cover a variety of topics. We explore what technology is, how to use it appropriately, and how it impacts our daily life through Global Citizenship and Digital Foundations. This course offers an interdisciplinary exploration of the Engineering Design Process through hands-on projects and labs such as our 3D Printing unit.

Middle School STEAM (6-8)

Middle School STEAM students will be provided with opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematical concepts in a hands-on context. Over your student's three years in middle school STEAM, we will explore topics such as circuitry, structures, sustainability, and robotics. Students will have the opportunity to apply the Engineering Design Process to create projects that demonstrate their understanding of these topics.

Middle School Art (6-8)

Students will use a variety of foundational art mediums in the creation of personal artwork including drawing, painting, mixed media, and design. Students apply art techniques to clearly communicate images, abstract ideas and emotions. The class is a blend of specific technical skills and creative problem solving. Art History related to subject or medium is incorporated into the class. Students critique and refine their art as they develop their projects. They define their perspectives about the artwork of classmates and professionals, verbally and in writing.
