 WWII Speaker

Tuesday, November 12, 2019
(6th Grader)

Local historian, Greg Henesy, will be speaking to our 6th grade students throughout the day.  Mr. Henesy is a retired state trooper and a professional historical interpreter that specializes in WWII history. His presentation will focus on a soldier’s daily life and the items the soldier would have carried with him. Finally, he will give a brief history of Veterans’ Day and draw some distinctions between it and Memorial Day

(7th Grade)

Local historian, John Heckman, will be speaking to our 7th grade students throughout the day.  Mr. Heckman is an archivist and professional historical interpreter that specializes WWI history. His presentation will focus on a soldier’s daily life, civilian life back home and finally the history of Veterans day originating after WWI.   



Vet Dog Presentation
Wednesday, November 13, 2019
(8th Grade)

Chad Basore will speak to Mr. Marville's and Mrs.Long’s students. Mr. Basore is a veteran and a dog trainer at Maryland Correctional Facility. He trains service dogs that eventually help veterans with either physical disabilities and/or cognitive disorders.  Mr.Basore will be bringing one of these service dogs and do a series of demonstrations. As an added bonus, he will also bring a pup in training (because who doesn’t like puppies).
