year, GAMS students participate in the Elks Americanism Essay Contest. A patriotic essay contest for students 5th through 8th grades to promote patriotism among young people.

Essay Deadline: Monday, December 14, 2020
Rules
- Eligible participants must be students enrolled in the 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade at the time of the contest.
- Essay length is not to exceed 300 words.
- Essay must be typed or legibly printed in ink.
- Essay must be submitted as written (or typed) by the entrant.
- Cover sheet on the next page must be filled in and attached to the front of each essay when turned into the Chambersburg Elks Lodge # 600.
- Essay will be submitted for judging to the Elks Lodge by the school or you can drop off at the Chambersburg Elks Lodge # 600. See attached downloadable for drop off information, rules and judging criteria below.

Awards
- National Competition: Plaques will be awarded by the Grand Lodge for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place for national winning essays in Division I and Division II.
- State Competition: Plaques will be sent to the respective State Associations for presentation to the winning Local Lodges.
